This million dollar dip is so easy! It’s a mixture of delicious, savory ingredients like cream cheese, sharp cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, slivered almonds, bacon, and more! The almonds and bacon add a nice crunch that balances the creaminess of the cheese. Serve this million dollar dip with your favorite crackers or veggies, or fresh out of the oven crostini. Trust us when we say that your guest will love it.

This easy dip recipe is inspired by the famous Neiman Marcus cheese dip, which was later renamed the Million Dollar Dip. Don’t worry. It doesn’t cost that much to make. In fact, most of the ingredients are easy to find and are quite affordable. This crave-worthy dip takes just minutes to make. Use real bacon bits for fast assembly!

Million Dollar Dip Ingredients

  • Green onions, finely chopped (see recipe card below for details)
  • 1 package cream cheese, softened
  • Grated sharp cheddar cheese (fresh grated works best!)
  • Real mayonnaise
  • Sour cream
  • 6 slices of cooked bacon or real bacon bit bits for a quick and easy option
  • Slivered almonds

How to soften cream cheese

Unwrap the cream cheese and place it into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 15-second increments until it is soft enough to stir. Do not melt the cream cheese; it should be slightly soft, not liquid soft.

Making Million Dollar Dip

  • Set aside 2 tablespoons each of chopped bacon and green onion to garnish the cheese dip.
  • Combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, mayo, sour cream, slivered almonds, remaining chopped bacon, and green onions in a medium-sized bowl.
  • Using a rubber spatula, scrape the sides of the bowl to create uniformity. Top with reserved bacon and green onions.
  • Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap, and place it into the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  • Remove plastic wrap and serve with Ritz crackers, crostini, tortilla chips, or carrot and celery sticks.
  • Store leftover cheese dip in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Recipe variations

While this million dollar dip is delicious as is, there are times we crave variety. Here are some ways to spice things up.

  • Spice it up: Add 1 chopped jalapeno to this cheese dip, or substitute shredded cheddar with a pepper jack. You can also skip the jalapeno and pepper cheese, and add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the cheese mixture.
  • Add some tart flavor: Stir in 1-2 medium dill pickles with the cheese dip ingredient to amp up the tartness.
  • Fried chicken skin: If you’re really in the mood for something unique, replace the bacon with salty, battered fried chicken skins. Get them good and crispy, then finely chop and use. Learn how to make fried chicken skins using your air fryer.
  • Smoky: Add 1/2 teaspoon or more of smoked paprika to the million dollar dip for a little extra smoke flavor.
  • Garlic lovers: Add 2 cloves of minced garlic, or 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder to dip.
