Ingredients needed to make Grilled Bacon Roses

- Bacon: thick cut bacon is ideal for this recipe. Adds volume to each individual rose.
- Seasoning: I used my Maple Bourbon seasoning that has levels of sweet and savory flavor. a simple brown sugar and salt mix will also do the trick.
- BBQ Sauce: the sweet sauce adds shine to the roses.

These prep work for these Grilled Bacon Roses is just as simple as the ingredients themselves.
Lay the bacon strips on a cutting board. Brush a thin layer of BBQ sauce on both sides followed by a generous seasoning of Dad’s Maple Bourbon Rub. This seasoning has the perfect balance of sweet and savory and works best on pork.
To form the shape of a rose, gently roll the bacon into a tight spiral mid way down the strip. Keep the fat and meat evenly layered as you go. The tighter the roll, the better the rose will hold its shape during cooking.
Next, take the remaining strip and twist it around. Once done you will notice the rose petals take shape. Secure it with a toothpick.
Once rolled, place the bacon rose into a muffin pan, cast-iron skillet, or grill-safe rack. This helps the bacon keep its rose shape while the fat renders and crisps.

How to Grill Bacon Roses
Preheat your grill to a medium heat (350-375°F) and set it up for indirect cooking.
Place the muffin pan filled bacon roses on the grill and cook for about 20-30 minutes allowing the fat to render gradually.

As they cook, the bacon will shrink slightly, tighten into the rose shape, and develop crispy edges with a rich smoky aroma.
Just before removing the Grilled Bacon Roses from the grill, brush another layer of BBQ sauce for that final shine making them look almost like glass roses. Let the sauce caramelize over the bacon.
Decorative Touches

Once the Grilled Bacon Roses are deeply golden and crisp, carefully remove them from the grill. Let them rest for 3-5 minutes, which allows the bacon to firm up and makes them easier to handle.
Gently remove the toothpicks from each Grilled Bacon Rose and insert a wooden skewer from the bottom which will act as the stem.
Place the dozen bacon roses into a vase and gift them to someone special.
