What type of bun is best for burgers?

These pulled pork burgers work best with brioche buns or standard sesame seed buns. Potato buns are also a great option as their flavor pops once toasted and coated in BBQ sauce.

Pulled Pork Burger ingredients

While you can purchase ready-made BBQ sauce to use on these pulled pork burgers, you can also make your own! Try our Georgia mustard BBQ sauce instead of whiskey BBQ sauce for this recipe.

Making Whiskey Pulled Pork Burgers

  • Reheat the pulled pork on the stovetop with a little apple juice. Cover and keep warm.
  • Prepare coleslaw according to recipe instructions, cover it, and place it into the refrigerator until ready to use.
  • Preheat your grill or Blackstone griddle to 375 degrees F or medium-high heat.
  • Combine ground meat with onion powder and chopped bacon in a large bowl.
  • Form into 4 equal-sized patties, slightly larger than the burger buns you’ll be using.
  • Season each patty with a little salt and black pepper or burger seasoning.
  • Place patties on the grill and cook for 5-6 minutes per side or until they reach an internal temperature between 160-165 degrees F. Add cheese during the last minute or two of cooking.
  • Brush buns with a little olive oil. Toast the buns on the griddle or cast iron pan during the last half of cooking.
  • Once cooked, remove the patties and buns from the grill or Blackstone.
  • Build your pulled pork burgers: place patties onto the slider buns and top with coleslaw, pickles (optional), warmed pulled pork, and BBQ sauce. Serve immediately.
