ShineMaker House

Living in the middle of nowhere is something that certainly appeals to our sensibilities here at The Coolector and when we envision doing that, ShineMaker House from CLB Architects is the type of house we are picturing. Located in rural Wyoming, this amazing-looking home has three wood-clad structures, with a creek running underneath the primary part of the residence. It is located on a 35-acre (14-hectare) plot close to the town of Wilson and ShineMaker House was envisioned as a series of tectonic structures set within a diverse ecosystem.

Brilliantly designed, ShineMaker House from CLB Architects has mesmerising views out toward the Tetons, a mountain range that rises sharply from the Jackson Hole valley. The majestic property features a pine forest and stands of aspens, which transition to a rolling meadow. Long story short, it is a pretty idyllic spot for a home. The build consists of three distinct structures – namely, a main house, guesthouse and writer’s studio – the property was purpose-built for a California-based couple who run an independent record label.

The main house at ShineMaker was designed to appear as a geologic remnant in the landscape, positioned on the edge between the field and the forest. The other two buildings on the plot are tucked within the woods and feel more intimate. Stretching horizontally from east to west, the main house is rectangular in shape yet distinctly more sculptural in its overall form. Just to the west of the home’s centre point, the home juts out over a lowland creek. The floor plan was cut away here to create an impressive, courtyard-style opening, allowing the water to flow uninterrupted.

The ground floor of ShineMaker House in Wyoming is where you’ll find the public spaces, the primary bedroom suite, a garage and a gym, along with an imposing mudroom that has been built for the client’s dogs – a couple of Irish wolfhounds. Upstairs, on the west side of the building, there is a partial floor with a lounge and two additional bedroom suites for friends and family to enjoy. A real essential part of the home is the large stretches of glass that provide sweeping views of the jaw-dropping terrain that surrounds this luxurious home.
