After the Justin Fields experiment fell short, resulting in the team trading the young quarterback to the Pittsburgh Steelers this NFL offseason, the Chicago Bears brought in USC superstar Caleb Williams with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

With Williams now in the fold and the consensus being he could become a superstar in Chicago, the Bears brass have done everything within their power to surround the rookie quarterback with enough talent to potentially make a run at the NFL playoffs during the 2024 campaign.

Along with bringing in wide receivers Keenan Allen and rookie Rome Odunze to join DJ Moore, Chicago has bolstered the tight end position behind starter Cole Kmet.

The tight end position was already strong with Kmet and Gerald Everett, but the Bears didn’t stop there, as they are expected to bring back another notable veteran.

According to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, the Bears are expected to re-sign Mercedes Lewis, who will be entering his 19th season in the NFL via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

The Bears are hoping to make a considerable jump in the standings during the 2024 NFL season, with the storied franchise tired of losing and failing to live up to expectations.

Obviously, all these moves will be for nothing if Williams isn’t as advertised and can’t live up to the hype in Chicago, but so far, things are looking promising for the Bears as they inch closer to getting the 2024 campaign underway on September 8 in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans at Soldier Field.
