During the first eight years of his NFL career, Cam Newton was considered to be one of the best quarterbacks in the game and the face of the Carolina Panthers franchise, as he had a unique skill set and size that the league had never seen before.
Unfortunately for Newton, that combination of size and speed didn’t lead to a career filled with success, as he struggled to continue his dominance on the football field during the second half of his career.
Newton’s final three seasons in the league were forgettable, to say the least, and led to his career coming to an end sooner than expected, as a failed stint with the New England Patriots seemed to end his time as a star on the NFL level.
Ten of the 11 seasons Newton played in the NFL were with the Panthers, and the one away from the team that drafted him was with legendary head coach Bill Belichick, but he wished he could’ve played for three head coaches in particular, via 4th And 1 Show.
“Rex Ryan! It can be Rex Ryan, Mike Tomlin, Sean McVay,” Newton said.
Unfortunately for the one-time NFL MVP, no teams wanted to bring him in after he couldn’t get it done for Belichick in New England, so playing for any of these head coaches just wasn’t possible.
Although Newton didn’t get a real chance to spread his wings in the league and play for other head coaches, he did get to finish his career where it began.
