The Philadelphia Eagles made a big splash this offseason in free agency when they signed star running back Saquon Barkley away from the NFC East rival New York Giants, but they still have work to do.

They collapsed down the stretch last season after starting 10-1, and just about everyone agrees that their biggest need is reinforcements in their secondary, especially at the cornerback position.

Quinyon Mitchell, a corner from the University of Toledo, said that he had a pre-draft visit with the Eagles and that it went well, per NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Mitchell, who is originally from Florida, played all four seasons of college football at Toledo.

He had 18 passes defended last season, and in 2022, he logged 19 passes defended, as well as five interceptions, two of which he returned for a touchdown.

Many people consider Mitchell to be one of the very best cornerback prospects in the upcoming draft, which will open for business on Thursday.

The Eagles were a savage defensive team in 2022 when they went to the Super Bowl and were on the verge of defeating Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, but they greatly regressed in that category last season.

After ranking eighth in points allowed and second in total yards allowed in 2022, they fell to 30th and 26th, respectively, in both categories last year.

Darius Slay and James Bradberry have been a nice cornerback duo for Philly, but both are getting long in the tooth, and some young blood there would greatly help.
