The Indianapolis Colts chose to take the gamble on drafting quarterback Anthony Richardson out of the University of Florida during the 2023 NFL Draft, even though it seemed like a risky proposition, as many draft experts had doubts about whether he’d be successful in the NFL.

Fortunately for the Colts, after Richardson won the starting job in Indianapolis, Richardson quickly proved his worth on the football field while convincing most of the doubters that he was the real deal and potentially a new franchise quarterback for the team.

However, it wasn’t long before Richardson’s physical style of play caught up with him as he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury that required surgery to repair, which is obviously a concern, especially with everything the team dealt with during Andrew Luck’s time with the team.

Although Richardson was thought to be back to 100% during OTAs, the second-year quarterback is dealing with soreness in the surgically repaired shoulder, which has raised cause for concern and fans doubting whether the Colts are being truthful about the injury, via Stephen Holder of ESPN.

“The reality is the Colts do not have a history of lying about injuries (not any more than other teams). Andrew Luck’s shoulder situation was always fluid and there was a very clear and documented setback. The prognosis turned out to be wrong as a result,” Holder tweeted in response to a fan.

Obviously, it is very early into the process of Richardson returning to form on the gridiron, so having some soreness and a few bumps and bruises is pretty standard and nothing to be alarmed about.

However, that could change quickly if this becomes a common occurrence with the former Gators star, as the shoulder might not be fully healed or there’s a larger issue that needs to be addressed, which would be the Colts’ worst-case scenario.
