The New England Patriots have a massive decision on their hands as they own the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
New England can go in a number of directions when they’re on the clock, but the most likely answer is at quarterback.
The Patriots traded Mac Jones away to the Jacksonville Jaguars and brought back Jacoby Brissett in free agency.
While Brissett is a great bridge quarterback, the team needs a long-term answer at the position.
New head coach Jerod Mayo will be tasked with getting the offense back on track, and finding the right player in the draft would go a long way in achieving that.
There’s also the possibility that New England trades down to get more picks to rebuild their roster, but it sounds like team owner Robert Kraft is set on a new signal caller via Albert Breer The MMQB.
“If you trade down, you lose the certainty that you’re gonna get the quarterback you want and I do think ownership wants a quarterback here,” Breer reported.
There are gonna be numerous teams lining up to trade up in the draft if the Patriots are open for business, but Breer made it sound like they’re happy to let the board play out and take whichever quarterback falls to them.
With Caleb Williams likely off the board by then, New England should see either Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye fall in their laps.
Either prospect brings tremendous upside and could be the key to getting the Patriots back on track.
