The Cleveland Browns have impressed many around the NFL by consistently finding ways to win games, even as they have lost one key player after another to injury.
When star running back Nick Chubb was lost for the season in September due to a knee injury, it was presumed they had no real shot at making the playoffs, and those feelings intensified when quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending shoulder injury several weeks later.
The Browns signed 38-year-old quarterback Joe Flacco a few weeks ago, and he led them to an impressive win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday with 311 passing yards and three passing touchdowns.
Per MoreForYouCleveland, Flacco said no other NFL teams tried to snag him from the practice squad, and he said that even if one had tried to do so, he would’ve said no.
Flacco has been moved back and forth between Cleveland’s active roster and practice squad since joining them, which has given other NFL teams an opportunity to sign him.
It’s easy to forget, but he once catapulted the Baltimore Ravens to a Super Bowl championship during the 2012 season, even though they were underdogs in the big game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Flacco may have never made a Pro Bowl in 16 pro seasons, but his veteran experience and leadership should be invaluable for a Browns team that has rarely reached the postseason since its current iteration began play in 1999.
Cleveland will play the Chicago Bears this weekend before taking on C.J. Stroud and the upstart Houston Texans on Christmas Eve.
