Kurt Warner Reveals What Bears Should Do With Justin Fields

The Chicago Bears once again have the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft, which has left many wondering if they may trade it again.

They traded the No. 1 pick last year to the Carolina Panthers for star wide receiver D.J. Moore and multiple picks, one of which turned out to be the top pick this year.

The Bears have quarterback Justin Fields, the No. 11 pick in 2021, who hasn’t emerged or developed since then, and a growing number of people feel they should pull the plug on the Fields experiment by trading him and using the No. 1 pick on another QB.

Former regular season and Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner is one of those people, per “The Rich Eisen Show.”

“Unless you know without a shadow of a doubt that Justin Fields is that guy, I believe you have to go the other route, because now it’s still speculation, and it’s still the fact that we’re going to have to pay him a big-dollar deal whether he’s proven that to us or not, and so I feel like there’s only one way to go in this if the answer to your question is ‘he hasn’t proven it yet,'” Warner said.

In three NFL seasons, Fields hasn’t shown much, if any, significant improvement, and for his career, he has completed just 60.3 percent of his pass attempts and has thrown 40 touchdown passes and 30 interceptions.

He has a career record of 10-28, and even though some feel Chicago is now knocking on the door of playoff contention, they went just 7-10 this season.

Warner did point out that Fields hasn’t had a ton of help in terms of skill players and quality coaches, but at this point, those seem more like excuses than reasons for his anemic play.

Most feel USC QB Caleb Williams will be the No. 1 pick in April, and if the Bears keep their No. 1 pick and have doubts about him, they could go for someone such as Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye.

The Bears haven’t won the Super Bowl since the 1985 season, and their devoted fans are restless for a return to glory.
