Perhaps more than any other professional league, the NFL excels in pumping up its stars to fans across the nation and around the globe.

In a somewhat different move, the league posted a video compilation of new Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh from his playing days.

The new coach is a proven winner wherever he has landed and he rejoined the NFL after bringing the NCAA national championship back to his alma mater, Michigan.

The NFL posted an impressive array of clips on Twitter, noting that: “Jim Harbaugh could sling it for the @chargers back in the day.”

The league figured there may be some who do not know of his pro accomplishments.

Drafted by Chicago in 1987, Harbaugh spent seven seasons in the Windy City as part of some accomplished Bears teams and is still second in team history with attempts and third in passing yards.

He moved on to Indianapolis in 1994 before stints in Baltimore and San Diego to round out his career.

Perhaps his best season was with the Colts in 1995, when he led Indianapolis to the AFC Championship Game, was selected to the Pro Bowl, and was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year.

Harbaugh threw for 129 touchdowns in his 14-year career, along with 26,288 yards.

Now he returns to the team where his playing days ended, the relocated Los Angeles Chargers, with high expectations to bring the same level of success he achieved at other stops.

Harbaugh’s hiring signaled that the franchise was serious about winning and committed to winning over fans in Los Angeles.
