The 2024 NFL Draft is just three days away, and there are several quarterback prospects who seem to have the ability to become franchise players for years to come.

The one prospect who people have been talking about most over the last few weeks is J.J. McCarthy from the University of Michigan, who has risen on many people’s draft boards lately.

According to Tom Pelissero, McCarthy has “crushed the pre-draft process,” per Around the NFL.

McCarthy’s stock has risen so much of late that he has even become a somewhat polarizing draft prospect.

His proponents say that he’s a proven winner, especially after leading the Wolverines to a victory in the College Football Playoff National Championship game over the University of Washington in January.

Those people also rave about McCarthy’s ability to move in and out of the pocket and make plays while on the move.

But those who aren’t high on him point out how infrequently the Wolverines threw the football under then-head coach Jim Harbaugh and question whether McCarthy could be the face of a franchise in the pass-heavy NFL.

While he completed 72.3 percent of his pass attempts last season, there are also concerns about his pass accuracy in certain situations as he heads to the next level.

There has been talk that a number of teams will trade to trade up in order to nab McCarthy, and the team most talked about in that regard is the Minnesota Vikings, who are currently drafting at No. 11.

If McCarthy does end up with him, he will have plenty of help to start his pro career in the form of stud wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, plus star tight end T.J. Hockenson.
