Over the past few days, there has been a lot of movement in the NFL now that free agency is well underway, as plenty of notable players have decided to change teams.
Perhaps the biggest surprise move in NFL free agency thus far has been former New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley choosing not to return to the Big Apple but rather take his talents to the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles.
Initially, it appeared that Barkley would inevitably leave the Giants, as the two sides seemed ready to part ways, but the Houston Texans were favored to land him in free agency.
Even though that seemed like a smart move by Barkley because Houston is on the rise with star quarterback C.J. Stroud leading the way, he chose to join the Eagles.
During his introductory press conference with the Eagles, Barkley revealed why he chose to sign with Philadelphia via, Eliot Shorr-Parks.
“Everything that they’re about, the culture here, the fans here, definitely got super excited about it, and I’m just happy to be part of this organization,” Barkley said.
As a result of signing with the Eagles, Barkley will be public enemy No. 1 in New York moving forward, as avid Giants fans are not happy with the decision the two-time Pro Bowler made in free agency.
Along with Barkley, who is bound to get a lot of grief from Giants fans, the rivalry between these two teams will be elevated to another level.
