After a stellar 2022 campaign in which the Jacksonville Jaguars gave the Kansas City Chiefs all they could handle in the NFL playoffs, the future looked bright for the team, as Trevor Lawrence began to look like the real deal while Doug Pederson also appeared to be the right choice to coach this team.
Unfortunately, the Jaguars were unable to live up to expectations during the 2023 campaign, even though the team seemed ready to have a breakout year and potentially make a deep run in the postseason.
As if missing the playoffs entirely last season wasn’t bad enough, the team also lost its best wide receiver, Calvin Ridley, who signed with the Tennessee Titans to join forces with DeAndre Hopkins and Will Levis.
With Ridley leaving Jacksonville in NFL free agency, the team has been looking for his replacement but has been unlucky up to this point, which has led to speculation that they might try to trade up in the first round to land one of the best wide receiver prospects.
According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, the Jaguars are actively trying to move up from No. 17 overall in order to land a “top offensive player” near the top of the draft.
With the wide receiver position being deep in this draft, the Jaguars could be targeting one of the best wideouts, like Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, or Rome Odunze, who are all expected to be taken within the first 10 picks.
The Chicago Bears recently let it be known that the No. 9 pick is up for grabs, so it would be safe to assume that Jacksonville is calling Chicago to see what they want in return for the pick.
