Who hasn’t had a BLT?! This simple bacon lettuce tomato sandwich with some mayo is simple and easy to make. Add some sweetness to the bacon and spiciness to the mayo and you have a rockin sandwich. Elevate your sami game with this delicious maple bourbon BLT.
Step 1: Cook the bacon
The only ingredient that requires any cooking in this recipe is the bacon. Whether you are doing it on the grill, griddle, stove top or microwave, it’s a key ingredient that needs to be on the BLT.
I made mine on the griddle. Allowed the bacon to cook in it’s own grease and sprinkled some of Dad’s Maple Bourbon rub at the very end for extra flavor. Make sure to do this on both sides.
Recipe Tip
Season the bacon once cooked just before removing from the grill. Do not season at the very beginning. This will cause the sugar in the rub to burn making for an unpleasant taste.
Step 2: Make spicy mayo
Spicy mayo is a great way to add some heat and flavor to a sandwich. Ingredients are simple and steps even easier.
In a mixing bowl, add mayo of choice, some sriracha and Dad’s All Purpose rub. Mix the ingredients together and start assembling the BLT.
Step 3: Assemble the maple bourbon BLT
Layers and correct sequence is important in a BLT to ensure you are getting all the right textures and flavors in one bite.
Start with toasting the bread. Next, spread a layer of the spicy mayo followed by a crispy lettuce leaf. Add in strips of bacon on top and finish with a slice of tomato with salt and pepper on top. Close the maple bourbon BLT with a toasted slice on top and enjoy!
