The New York Jets continue to make headlines in sports media.
The recent controversy surrounding Zach Wilson has been a prevailing story lately.
According to several reports, the team wants to give Wilson another shot at the starting gig, which Wilson allegedly did not receive well.
Whether this is happening or not remains to be seen.
There does seem to be some validity to these reports, as Aaron Rodgers has recently come out to say that a leak of this kind “Has no place within a winning organization.”
Craig Carton’s crew discussed Rodgers’ comments, agreeing with him for the first time in months.
Carton said, “If you’re going to turn around and give a reporter a story to try to embarrass a young, embattled kid, what do you gain from that?”
Carton agrees with Rodgers in this situation, recognizing that this conversation shouldn’t be happening in the first place.
Wilson’s NFL career had not yielded the results the team expected when they drafted him with the No. 2 overall draft pick in 2021.
However, as Carton mentions, just because his on-field play hasn’t been ideal does not give anyone the right to talk about Wilson in this manner.
He is trying to make a name for himself in the NFL, and extra-curricular comments, especially those from his team, have no legs to stand on.
The fallout from this leak could have a monumental impact on the future of the Jets.
It will be interesting to see what Robert Saleh will do at the QB position this week, especially with the controversy surrounding Wilson.
