The Denver Broncos will look different offensively in the 2024 NFL season as they released Russell Wilson after two dismal seasons with him under center.

Head coach Sean Payton tried to make it work with the former MVP, but Wilson didn’t show that he was worthy of holding onto his starting job.

Wilson would go on to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers, clearing the way for Denver to rebuild its franchise from the ground up.

The Broncos cleared their cap sheet by releasing several other players besides Wilson and are setting themselves up to make a splash next offseason.

According to Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette, the Broncos will have enormous amounts of cash to spend in 2025.

With Broncos not giving Josh Reynolds any guaranteed money on base salary for 2025, they still have a meager $22.255 million in committed guaranteed salaries for 2025 (McGlinchey 17.5/Jones $4.255/Trautman $500,000). They’re in a position to have massive amount of cap room in 2025,” Tomasson tweeted.

With only about $22 million in guaranteed salary on the books, Denver can be massive players in free agency next year.

While the 2024 campaign will be tough to watch on the field, this is the best course forward for the organization as they look to try and get back into contention in a loaded AFC.

Denver also has several draft picks in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft that they can use to accelerate their rebuild.

There are roster needs on both sides of the field that the Broncos need to address, but they’ve at least given themselves an excellent starting point to begin rebuilding.
