After falling apart at the seams down the stretch of the 2023 season, the Philadelphia Eagles have lost one of their biggest stars on the offensive side of the football.
Center Jason Kelce, a seven-time Pro Bowler who was selected to the All-Pro First-Team six times, has announced his retirement after 13 seasons in the NFL.
Not only was he a standout on the offensive line for the Eagles throughout his career, but he also delivered a classy retirement speech.
Field Yates raved about that speech on Twitter, noting how Kelce showed plenty of gratitude to many people.
Kelce is a family-oriented man, and his brother Travis, who just won his third Super Bowl championship with the Kansas City Chiefs, was in attendance.
Jason Kelce got a world championship ring of his own during the 2017 season when his Eagles defeated Tom Brady’s New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, and he lost to his brother’s Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII after blowing a 10-point halftime lead.
A native of Ohio and a product of the University of Cincinnati, Jason Kelce was a sixth-round draft choice of Philly in 2011, and it only took him four seasons to earn his first selection to the Pro Bowl.
His retirement will leave a gaping hole on an Eagles offensive line that was considered one of the best in the NFL.
The Eagles have plenty of issues to sort out on both sides of the ball this offseason, and it is possible they look significantly different when they take the field for training camp this summer.
