The biggest problem for the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2023 NFL season was the team’s play on the offensive side of the football, namely the play from the quarterback position, which was incredibly inconsistent.
Although the team continues to back Kenny Pickett as the future of the quarterback position in Pittsburgh, the storied franchise will have the opportunity to upgrade the position during the NFL offseason, with some proven veterans becoming available.
One of those options will be veteran Kirk Cousins, who is coming off an Achilles injury but likely won’t be returning to the Minnesota Vikings and might be able to be a viable option for a team like the Steelers.
Another option is veteran Russell Wilson, whose stint with the Denver Broncos appears to be coming to an end, as he is no longer seeing eye-to-eye with the team’s brass and recently put his house up for sale.
Even though Wilson isn’t the same superstar-caliber quarterback he was with the Seattle Seahawks, he still might be able to lead a team, especially one with a stellar defense, as the Steelers have right now.
James Jones of FOX Sports believes Wilson is the only player who can help this team moving forward via Speak On FS1.
“Russell Wilson, to me, is the only guy that can really help the Pittsburgh Steelers get over the hump,” Jones said.
At this point in time, there’s no telling what the immediate future will hold for Wilson, as he could have several suitors on the open market.
Along with the Steelers, the Las Vegas Raiders and Atlanta Falcons might be options for the veteran quarterback.
