The big matchup in the NFL this weekend will take place between the San Francisco 49ers and the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Both teams met in last season’s NFC Championship Game, but it was never really a fair fight, as San Francisco quarterback Brock Purdy tore the UCL in his throwing elbow in the first quarter, allowing the Eagles to win by a wide margin.

This Sunday’s game may not decide who will reach this season’s Super Bowl, but it could give the winner the impetus to finish first in the NFC and have an advantage going into the playoffs.

Chris Broussard said on Fox Sports 1’s “First Things First” that although he’s picking Philly to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy, he thinks the 49ers will win this Sunday’s game.

"My Super Bowl pick is Philly winning it all. But I understand they're not going 16-1. I have San Francisco winning this week."

Broussard said that Philly is in the midst of a tough portion of their schedule, while the Niners need this game more than they do.

Jalen Hurts and company have the best record in the NFL at 10-1, and if San Francisco is to have any chance at finishing first in the conference, they will have to defeat Hurts’ squad on Sunday.

Home field advantage is very important, especially when one considers the difference in weather and climate come January — a playoff game in Philly could be played in near-freezing conditions, while one in the Bay Area would likely be played with the temperature no lower than 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
