To say that the Indianapolis Colts have had a disappointing season could be a bit of an understatement.
While fans and analysts didn’t think they would be contenders, the way Anthony Richardson and their defense played early in the season made some think that they could be a legitimate dark horse.
Not having Jonathan Taylor early in the season and then losing Richardson only makes their 5-5 record all the more impressive, especially for a rookie coach.
When asked about Shane Steichen’s impact, LB Zaire Franklin told James Palmer that he’s done an outstanding job of keeping the team focused and grounded through thick and thin, making sure to get them ready for their next opponent and the task in hand regardless of the adversity.
The veteran linebacker also talked about Steichen developing a culture of accountability within the building, adding that it can be felt from top to bottom.
Notably, the Colts still have a chance to win their division and make the playoffs, which sounds crazy after all they’ve been through.
Needless to say, their chances of pulling it off could be considered slim, but they’re playing .500 football with Gardner Minshew as their starting quarterback and in a very competitive division.
It hasn’t always been easy or pretty, but they continue to get the job done.
Now, coming off their BYE week, they’ll host Baker Mayfield and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to try and get their sixth win of the season and continue building this momentum and winning culture.
