The Washington Commanders are going through another dismal season, as they have a 4-8 record and almost no shot at making the playoffs.

This scenario has become all too familiar to their fans, as the team has made the playoffs just six times in the last 30 years.

However, there may be a glimmer of hope for the near future.

The Commanders are under the new ownership of billionaire investor Josh Harris and NBA legend Magic Johnson, which means Dan Snyder’s reign of terror is now history, while new starting quarterback Sam Howell is somehow leading the NFL in completed passes and passing yards.

They also have a promising young running back in Brian Robinson Jr., who has 611 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns through 12 games.

Per Ben Standig, Robinson says focus and staying in the moment have been the keys to the team’s improved running game.

Robinson was a third-round pick in the 2022 draft, and he became a star in his final season of college football at the University of Alabama.

That year, he ran for 1,343 yards and 14 touchdowns, and he ran for an Alabama record 204 yards in the Cotton Bowl Classic that year, which earned him game MVP honors after the Crimson Tide easily defeated the University of Cincinnati Bearcats.

One thing that has made him more valuable is his dual-threat abilities — he has caught 29 passes for 326 yards and three touchdowns so far this season.

Perhaps the Commanders just need some time and patience to return to the type of sustained success they enjoyed throughout the 1980s and early 1990s.
