Dolphins Are Reportedly ‘Very Interested’ In Top WR Prospect

The Miami Dolphins may be coming off a season in which they had an 11-6 record, but they have lots of work to do before they can call themselves legitimate Super Bowl contenders.

While they have one of the very best offenses in the NFL, their defense needs improvement, and on offense, they could use a minor upgrade at wide receiver to give themselves a legitimate No. 3 threat there.

Miami has the No. 21 pick in Thursday’s draft, and per Dov Kleiman, they’re “very interested” in Xavier Worthy, a speedy wide receiver from the University of Texas.

The key word when it comes to Worthy is speed, and he has that as much as any prospect.

He ran the 40-yard dash in a beastly 4.21 seconds, and he should fit in well with Miami’s offense that loves to stretch the field vertically.

Miami already has Tyreek Hill, who is nicknamed “Cheetah” because of his own blazing speed, and at age 30, perhaps it is time for them to start thinking of finding him an heir apparent.

While Worthy is as fast as a meteor streaking through the night sky, he’s only 5-foot-11 and weighs just 165 pounds, giving him subpar size and physicality at the NFL level.

He is also thought to have trouble making contested catches, and he seems to put forth inconsistent effort.

The Dolphins have many more needs on the defensive side of the football, especially after releasing star cornerback Xavien Howard, and some would even say they need to trade up and draft a quarterback to replace Tua Tagovailoa.
