The Washington Commanders are certainly hoping they have their quarterback of the future in Jayden Daniels whom the team selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Daniels won the Heisman Trophy at LSU last season after a career-year with the Tigers and will look to ride that momentum into his rookie year for the Commanders.
A dual-threat quarterback who can hit the big play downfield or take it and run it himself, Daniels fits the mold of modern NFL offenses and should thrive in Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury’s system.
Daniels might be a little thin at the position, but his talent and upside is off the charts and he could see immediate success as a rookie.
The Commanders did well to restock the offensive side of the football with weapons for Daniels to utilize, though it’ll likely take some time before he’s fully comfortable at the professional level.
Meanwhile, Daniels has been taking in the Washington sports scene and recently threw the first pitch at a Washington Nationals game that had fans talking via JP Finlay of NBC Sports.
“Jayden Daniels first pitch. He throws the football much better.”
In the video, Daniels takes a very casual windup before his throw that appears just off the plate and hard to handle for the catcher.
However, it’s not a bad toss considering some of the other ones that have been thrown by other athletes and celebrities.
It shouldn’t be a referendum on how he throws the football and Daniels will surely draw more cheers when he steps onto the field for the first time in 2024.
