The Cleveland Browns overcame some serious odds to make the playoffs last season after suffering all the injuries they had.

The offense got decimated midway through the 2023 NFL season as the team lost both Deshaun Watson and Nick Chubb for the remainder of the year due to shoulder and knee injuries, respectively.

However, head coach Kevin Stefanski was able to make do with the pieces he had available and qualified for the Wild Card round where they eventually lost to the Houston Texans.

Despite the playoff exit, optimism is high that Cleveland can take a step forward in 2024 with better health and more pieces to work with on both sides of the field.

When looking at the running back situation for next season, Jerome Ford seems slated to handle the bulk of the work again as Chubb works his way back from rehab.

The team could also use a pass-catching back like Duke Johnson, who recently announced he is retiring from the NFL, via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Johnson was one of the best third-down backs in the league during his prime because he was reliable in catching passes but also did well in pass protection.

The veteran had a solid career with multiple teams, though he’ll be most remembered for his time with the Browns.
