Former NFL Player Notes Dak Prescott’s Status Among QBs

In recent weeks, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has put himself in the middle of the MVP conversation.

He is among the league leaders in multiple categories, including passer rating, passing touchdowns, and passing yards, and he has the Cowboys in contention for first place in the NFC East, not to mention the top seed in the conference.

However, he ran into a setback on Sunday when he failed to throw a touchdown pass as his team lost to the Buffalo Bills, 31-10.

It revived a comment made days ago by former NFL QB Cam Newton, who said Prescott is just a game manager, but James Jones pushed back on that narrative on FS1’s “Speak.”

On the season, Prescott has completed 68.8 percent of his pass attempts and has thrown for 3,639 yards and 28 touchdowns.

He has drastically cut down on his interceptions after leading the league in that category last year despite playing in just 12 games.

However, after his poor performance against the Bills, one has to remember his history of not playing well in big games over the years.

That poor performance hurt his MVP chances, as his main competitor, San Francisco 49ers signal-caller Brock Purdy, had another strong game on Sunday with four touchdown passes and no interceptions.

With a 10-4 record, Dallas could fall back to second place in the NFC East by a full game if the Philadelphia Eagles, who currently lead the division, defeat the Seattle Seahawks on Monday.

Dallas will face the Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions in the next two weeks, and needless to say, those two games will be huge tests for them.
