NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders took the college football world by storm this year by taking over a University of Colorado team that had been perennially disappointing and making them competitive.
Although they finished 4-8, they won each of their first three games, and plenty of their losses came by no more than a touchdown.
It has led to many calling for Sanders to return to the pros as a head coach.
But per “Nightcap,” he says he won’t do it because he would have trouble coaching a pro player who is making millions of dollars but won’t give 100 percent, and also because he said he’s having the time of his life at Colorado.
Back in the 1990s, Sanders was one of the NFL’s best cornerbacks, and he broke into the league in 1989 as the No. 5 pick in the draft that year.
After five seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, he joined the San Francisco 49ers, where he won a Super Bowl championship during the 1994 season while earning his fourth straight Pro Bowl nod and his third consecutive All-Pro First-Team selection.
The following year, he got another ring with the Dallas Cowboys.
Of course, Sanders also gained notoriety back then for playing pro baseball at the same time, making him one of just a handful of two-sports stars in history.
There will be some interesting coaching openings in the NFL after this season’s Super Bowl, including on the Los Angeles Chargers, which Shannon Sharpe asked Sanders about in the above video.
