The excitement for the 2024 NFL Draft is palpable as there are several franchise-altering talents available at the top.

This year’s class features a slew of quarterback and wide receiver prospects that teams could conceivably build their offenses around.

The quarterbacks in particular are worth monitoring over the coming weeks as Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and Jayden Daniels are generally considered to be the best of the group.

Most mock drafts have the trio going in some order in the top three, with Williams the overwhelming favorite to go No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears.

However, the second tier of quarterbacks features players like J.J. McCarthy, who is expected to go anywhere in the top-10 to later in the first round.

McCarthy’s stock has been on the rise in recent weeks, though, and it appears he’s starting to crash the conversation for best signal-callers in the draft, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

“It seems clear now we have a top-three of quarterbacks,” Rapoport said. “There is a real chance that some teams consider him to be the third and consider him to be closer to the top three.”

McCarthy wasn’t asked to do too much at Michigan as their running game and defense allowed them to control the pace of play.

However, McCarthy showed some real flashes when he got the green light to throw downfield or create plays out of the pocket.

His winning pedigree and age make him a worthwhile first-round flyer, but it appears that fans and teams should be prepared for him to go higher than some people expect.
