Jerry Jeudy Traded To Browns

Wide Receiver Jerry Jeudy’s talents were widely recognized in the 2020 NFL Draft, where the Denver Broncos selected him in the first round. His selection early in the draft underscored the high regard in which NFL teams held him.

However, Jeudy’s time in the pros wasn’t what fantasy managers expected.

Jerry Jeudy Stats

Jeudy was praised for his football intelligence, understanding of defensive coverages, and ability to adjust his routes accordingly. His ability to read the game and make quick decisions on the field added to his overall effectiveness as a wide receiver. But Jeudy could not find his way no matter who the Broncos started at quarterback.

On Saturday, the Denver Broncos agreed to send the former first-round pick Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns for a pair of 2024 draft picks.

The Browns are adding a new wide receiver to complement their top target, Amari Cooper, and they are also adding a big target and deep threat for quarterback Deshaun Watson. The Broncos will save $13 million in cash and salary cap room by getting rid of Jeudy. They are getting two draft picks. Denver will have eight picks in the April draft.

In the last few days, the Broncos have freed up almost $50 million in cap space, most of which was from releasing Russell Wilson. The team is looking for a fresh start and will likely be busy in NFL free agency and the NFL draft.

Fantasy Impact

Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton had similar numbers last season, but neither produced enough to become a regular fantasy starter. However, a fresh start in Cleveland could give Jeudy’s fantasy stock a slight bump if he and DeShaun Watson get on the same page. But more likely than not, Jeudy’s presence will help the Browns passing game by allowing defenses not to double-team Amari Cooper. Having a dual threat should give breathing room to the passing game overall.
