The AFC continues to be very competitive and deeper than the NFC, and that means that it will be a tough battle for teams looking to represent it in this coming season’s Super Bowl.

Although it is less intense this time around, the New York Jets have some considerable hype surrounding them, mostly because of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

His arrival a year ago brought lots of hope and excitement to the Tri-state area, but he tore his Achilles on the Jets’ first offensive series of Week 1, which torpedoed their season.

Some feel they can perhaps reach the Super Bowl this time around, but Joy Taylor said on FS1’s “Speak” that Rodgers won’t live up to the hype, simply because living up to that hype means getting to the big game.

Rodgers is 40 years of age, which means he has a ton of mileage on him, and that seems to lower the odds of him continuing to play at a high level following an injury that often ends the careers of elite-level athletes.

But if he will still be a Pro Bowl-caliber QB, New York does seem to have the talent around him to at least be a playoff team.

They have two real wide receiver threats in Garrett Wilson and free-agent addition Mike Williams, a promising young running back in Breece Hall, and a talented defense.

Their offensive line was a big problem last year, but they did add eight-time Pro Bowl tackle Tyron Smith this offseason.

For decades, the Jets have been perpetually tortured, and they haven’t made the playoffs since 2010, so perhaps it will be all-or-nothing for them this fall and winter.
