After more than two decades, the New England Patriots are heading into a new era, with the storied NFL franchise parting ways with longtime head coach Bill Belichick this offseason, replacing the legend with former player Jerod Mayo.
Along with firing Belichick after 24 seasons and six Super Bowl titles won, the Patriots were able to bring in who might be the future face of the franchise with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Although there was some debate over who the Patriots would draft once on the clock, the Chicago Bears and Washington Commanders seemed to make the choice for them by taking quarterbacks Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels at No. 1 and No. 2.
As a result of those two picks at the top of the draft, the Patriots brought in quarterback Drake Maye out of the University of North Carolina, who was the best player available.
It seems as though Maye is already winning over Patriots fans as he’s making all the right moves since being drafted by New England, especially after meeting up with arguably the greatest quarterback of all time, Tom Brady via Mike Kadlick of Behind the Mike with Mike Kadlick.
Patriots fans can only hope that Maye was able to pick Brady’s brain during this first meeting between the two, as there’s no better source of knowledge for how to be successful at the quarterback position in New England than the seven-time Super Bowl champion.
It’ll be interesting to see if Maye turns out to be a sponge and soaks up all the knowledge he can before he takes the field for the Patriots, which could be as early as Week 1.
