After an incredible decade of football with the Los Angeles Rams, superstar defensive tackle Aaron Donald decided to call it a career, as he was finally ready to walk away from the game while he was still playing at an elite level.

Incredibly enough, Donald made the Pro Bowl in each of the 10 seasons he suited up for the Rams, which is a remarkable accomplishment, to say the least.

Even though some think that Donald is retiring a little earlier than he should, as he’s set to turn 33 in May, he felt it was the right time to move on, and as a result, he’ll almost certainly be a first-ballot Hall of Famer and in the discussion as the best defensive player in NFL history along with the likes of Lawrence Taylor.

Obviously, one person who is sadder than most that Donald chose to walk away after the 2023 NFL season is Rams head coach Sean McVay, who thinks there will be a lot of happy people that the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year is no longer on the football field via Around The NFL.

“A lot of people are probably happy that he retired, other than people on the Rams,” McVay said.

Along with losing Donald, arguably the best player in franchise history, to retirement, the Rams also lost defensive coordinator Raheem Morris to the Atlanta Falcons, where he chose to take the head coaching job left vacant by Arthur Smith.

It’ll be interesting to see where Donald ends up in the legacy conversation and whether some believe he’s better than Taylor.
