The upcoming 2024 NFL Draft is thought to be rich not only in quarterback prospects but also in wide receiver prospects.
Most people agree that Marvin Harrison Jr., the star wideout from Ohio State, is the best receiver available in the draft.
After that, it gets a bit debatable, but to Steve Smith Sr., who was a successful wideout in his own right in 16 pro seasons, Malik Nabers of LSU is almost as ripe a prospect as Harrison, per a video shared by Smith on Twitter.
Smith cited Nabers’ ability to make contested catches despite contact, as well as his well-rounded set of skills and ability to turn imperfect throws into receptions.
Nabers also has excellent speed, which should make him a legitimate deep threat at the next level.
He caught 89 balls for 1,569 yards, as well as 14 touchdowns in 2023, which earned him unanimous All-American honors.
A team such as the Los Angeles Chargers, who have the No. 5 pick, or the New York Giants, who are at No. 6, could greatly benefit from Nabers’ skills.
The Chargers have a Pro Bowl wideout in Keenan Allen who is in his early 30s, while WR2 Mike Williams may have to be jettisoned in order to get the team under the salary cap.
New York, meanwhile, lacks any legitimate wide receiver threats, and as a result, they were just 28th in passing touchdowns and 31st in passing yards in 2023.
