Coming into the 2023 NFL regular season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were dealt a massive blow, with superstar quarterback Tom Brady letting the world know that he was done with football at the age of 45.

Obviously, this forced the Buccaneers to find Brady’s successor under center, which turned out to be former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield, who played well enough for the Los Angeles Rams to prove to Tampa Bay that he can still be a starting quarterback in this league.

After 13 games with the Buccaneers, Mayfield has proven to the franchise that he’s able to hold his own under center, even though the team is sporting a losing record of 6-7 heading into their showdown with the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field this weekend.

Even though there are still some doubts about Mayfield’s ability, he definitely has the confidence of his teammates, with offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs singing his praises ahead of Week 15, via the Buccaneers’ official YouTube channel.

As Wirfs put it, Mayfield is a “dog” and has proven to his teammates that he’s a fighter and will do everything within his power to lead the team to wins moving forward.

With a division title and a playoff spot in the NFC on the line in the final four weeks of the regular season, Mayfield will have to play the best football of his career to lead this team against the Packers, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints, and Carolina Panthers.

It’ll be a tough stretch that will define this team’s season and whether it will be playoff-bound.
