The Philadelphia Eagles’ Week 18 match with the New York Giants could be very important or completely meaningless for their playoff seeding.

That’s because a win doesn’t guarantee they’ll take the NFC East crown.

More than anything, though, the Eagles may just need some momentum going into the playoffs after losing four of their past five games.

But Fox Sports analyst Emmanuel Acho said Friday that not only do the Eagles need to win in Week 18, but they need to beat the Giants handedly.

“The Eagles need not just to win, they need a blowout. Period,” Acho said. “If the Eagles don’t get a blowout, y’all might as well not even go to the playoffs. … The reason the Eagles need a blowout is because if the Eagles play good football, they will blow the Giants out.”

A win in the fashion Acho described would also mean that the Eagles defense finally played well, too, after it gave up 35 points to the Arizona Cardinals a week ago and gave up 25 to this same Giants team two weeks ago.

The biggest decision for the Eagles, though, is whether or not to rest their starters, which would inevitably affect how close or not this game is.

Dallas plays it’s Week 18 match at the same time as Philadelphia, so neither side will know the outcome until after their respective matches.

Either way, a win would be a positive end to an otherwise lackluster second half of the 2023 regular season for the Eagles.
