For the third straight season, the Dallas Cowboys have won 12 regular-season games, and this season, they have claimed the second seed in the NFC.
They may have the most talented team they have had since their glory days in the 1990s, and therefore, nothing short of a Super Bowl appearance will likely make this season considered a success.
In each of the last two seasons, Dallas was eliminated early in the playoffs by their long-time rivals, the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers have the top seed in the conference, and Emmanuel Acho said on FS1’s “Speak” that they’re the one team in the NFC that is still better than the Cowboys.
In Week 5 of this season, the Cowboys had a chance to send a message that they were perhaps the best team in the conference, but their trip to San Francisco that weekend resulted in a 42-10 blowout loss.
In that game, quarterback Dak Prescott, who has put together his best season ever, threw three interceptions in what may have been his worst game ever as a pro.
The Cowboys have looked dominant at times this year, but losses to the Niners, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, and Miami Dolphins have put a dent in their armor.
They haven’t reached the NFC Championship Game since the 1995 season, which was the last time they won it all, and as a result, they still have to deal with the nagging question of whether they can win a big game and whether Prescott will play up to his ability in a big game.
