Even though the Chicago Bears will end this NFL season with a losing record, the team may have a bright future ahead, especially at the quarterback position.
For the second year in a row, the Bears will have the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, but unlike last year, the storied franchise will almost certainly keep the pick rather than trade it.
With the Bears securing the top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, Chicago has an opportunity to bring in a potential franchise quarterback, with a few intriguing prospects in the draft this year, like Caleb Williams out of the University of Southern California.
If the Bears end up keeping the pick and are intent on bringing in a potential franchise quarterback, Justin Fields’ days in Chicago will be numbered, as the team will likely try to trade him during the offseason.
Bears general manager Ryan Poles addressed all the offseason speculation ahead of today’s game against the Packers via Dan Wiederer of Chicago Tribune.
“We’re working from a position of strength and just going to continue to keep an open mind and look at all the options. I’m excited for that opportunity,” Poles said.
Unfortunately, this is a typical response from an NFL general manager, as it doesn’t answer the question about the team’s intentions heading into the offseason.
However, it might be safe to say that the Fields will get traded, and the Bears will draft Williams or another talented quarterback coming out of the college game.
Even though it is unclear what the team intends to do right now, the Bears are in a great position to improve their squad drastically while setting the franchise up for a bright future.
