Brock Purdy Reveals Who He Is Rooting For In NBA Playoffs

After losing Super Bowl LVIII in heartbreaking fashion in February, the San Francisco 49ers are gearing up for another attempt to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy that has eluded them for years.

Despite possessing one of the NFL’s most talented teams for the better part of the last 13 years, they have failed to take home the grand prize; in fact, they have now lost three Super Bowls in a row after winning in their first five trips there during the 1980s and 1990s.

Quarterback Brock Purdy is using some of his downtime to watch the NBA playoffs, and he says he’s rooting for the Indiana Pacers because his friend and fellow Iowa State University product Tyrese Haliburton plays for them, per NBC Sports.

The Pacers are going up against the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, and while they’re sizable underdogs, they seem to have a puncher’s chance to win because of their withering fastbreak and overall offensive excellence.

They led the NBA in scoring, field-goal percentage, and assists during the regular season, and they got to the East Finals with a 130-109 win in Game 7 of the second round over the Knicks during which they set a playoff record by shooting 67.1 percent from the field.

Purdy and Haliburton were at Iowa State around the same time, but while Haliburton was considered one of the best prospects in the 2020 NBA Draft, Purdy had to settle for being “Mr. Irrelevant” in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Of course, Purdy has proven to be anything but irrelevant, as he has become a Cinderella story and led the league in several passing categories last season, and all he needs to complete that story is a Super Bowl ring.
