The accolades for Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud continue to pour in, and deservedly so.

After all, he led a moribund franchise from the depths of a three-win season to the divisional round of the NFL playoffs while playing as a rookie for a rookie coach.

And now there’s yet another feather in the cap of the emerging star from Ohio State.

Per Marcus Mosher, Stroud’s performance in his rookie season ranks among the top-six in the entire history of the NFL, a truly remarkable feat (via The 33rd Team).

There is not a slouch on the list, from Eric Dickerson at number one to Devin Hester coming in at tenth, and it is sprinkled with Hall of Famers.

Note that Dickerson ripped through defenses out of the Los Angeles Rams backfield for a staggering 1,808 yards on his way to being named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

But Stroud does not take a back seat to anyone for his accomplishments at perhaps the toughest position in all of sports.

He completed 319-of-499 passes for a franchise-record 4,108 yards while connecting for 23 touchdowns and only five interceptions.

That’s right, a rookie quarterback threw five picks.

Stroud’s passer rating of 100.8 came in the third-highest of any rookie quarterback in NFL history, which compares more than favorably with the likes of Dan Marino and Peyton Manning in their first seasons.

In fact, Marino is the only other quarterback who appears on the list of all-time great NFL rookies, and he checked in one position behind Stroud.

Stroud is a major reason Texans fans should be thrilled about their potential for the next decade of football.
