The Carolina Panthers are going through a tough time right now.
No one expected them to compete at a high level this season, and they don’t have the most talent in the league by any means.
However, No. 1 pick Bryce Young has looked far from a franchise player, and that’s a major concern.
Some even believe that Frank Reich should bench Young for the remainder of the season for his own good, as he just seems hesitant out there.
That’s why former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky stated that Young needs to make sure not to get broken mentally to be able to get over this hump eventually (Via Kevin Clark).
The former backup said that it might take a while before the Panthers are able to give him a solid supporting cast, predicting that it might take even another full season before we can actually make conclusions about his play.
That’s why it’s going to be so crucial for him not to start doubting everything.
He said that once you start second-guessing and being scared to make throws, doubting everybody around you, your teammates, coaches, the organization, and even yourself, you simply won’t be able to come back from that.
There were plenty of concerns about Young’s lack of size and how his game would translate to the NFL.
Nonetheless, his struggles have had nothing to do with the physicality or him being shorter than the average QB, and the Panthers will just need to find a way to protect him.
