The Buffalo Bills are in dire need of a legitimate threat at wide receiver in order to remain competitive.
They traded star wideout Stefon Diggs a few weeks ago after rumors persisted that he had a rift with the organization, and they also lost No. 2 receiver Gabriel Davis in free agency.
According to Adam Schefter, the Bills will be meeting with wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling tonight in upstate New York.
He caught 42 passes and put up 687 yards and two touchdowns in 2022, but in 2023, he saw his production drop to 21 catches, 315 yards and one touchdown.
Even though JuJu Smith-Schuster, Kansas City’s most productive wideout in 2022, left last offseason, Valdes-Scantling didn’t pick up the slack, as the team relied more on young players such as rookie Rashee Rice.
Other than Diggs and Davis, Buffalo’s most productive pass-catcher last year was tight end Dalton Kincaid, who had 673 yards and two touchdowns in his rookie campaign.
Buffalo still has an elite or near-elite quarterback in Josh Allen, but they lost two key pieces on defense: safety Jordan Poyer and defensive end Leonard Floyd, who joined the Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers, respectively.
With the rest of the AFC only getting better and deeper, they need some type of significant addition, especially on offense, if they are to have a real shot at remaining a playoff team this fall and winter.
