New Dolphins Veteran Explains What He Brings To The Team

After posting an 11-6 regular-season record and coming close to winning the AFC East division, the Miami Dolphins are getting ready for the playoffs and their Wild Card matchup against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

All season long, they have had two big bugaboos: their inability to beat teams with winning records, and their defense.

In an attempt to shore up their defense, the Dolphins signed veteran defensive end Bruce Irvin on Tuesday, and he says he will bring veteran leadership as well as some actual production, even though he’s 36 years of age, per David Furones.

Irvin came into the NFL as a first-round draft pick of the Seattle Seahawks in 2012, and he soon became a key part of their savage “Legion of Boom” defense.

He earned a Super Bowl championship ring with them in his second season, and he previously played two games this season with the Detroit Lions.

While the Dolphins, when healthy, have one of the league’s best cornerback duos in Xavien Howard and Jalen Ramsey, they need some help up front, especially since linebacker Bradley Chubb is out with a knee injury.

Against Kansas City, they will need to make quarterback Patrick Mahomes uncomfortable and force him to go away from star tight end Travis Kelce, especially since Kelce has been Kansas City’s only consistently reliable threat this season.

Miami will also have to overcome some brutally cold weather, as the game will be played in Kansas City, but it is an opportunity for them to prove that they’re legitimate contenders after all.
