With the San Francisco 49ers securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC, superstar defensive end Nick Bosa and company will be able to enjoy the advantage of having a first-round bye in the NFL playoffs while also having home-field advantage when they get back to work and know who they’ll be facing in the divisional round.
While the 49ers try to heal up and get as healthy as possible in anticipation of their first playoff game, Bosa admits he’ll have a rooting interest during Wild Card Weekend, as he wants one head coach, in particular, to be successful in the first round of the playoffs.
DeMeco Ryans made a name for himself as an up-and-coming coach in the NFL during his time with the San Francisco 49ers, where he moved up the coaching ranks to become the team’s defensive coordinator last season and then got the job to be the new head coach of the Houston Texans.
Bosa let it be known that he’ll be rooting for his old defensive coordinator when the Texans take on the Cleveland Browns on Saturday in Houston at NRG Stadium via 49ers on NBCS.
“Yeah, definitely for DeMeco,” Bosa said.
The showdown between the Browns and Texans will be a battle of head coaches that are in the running for NFL Coach of the Year, with Ryans turning things around for Houston while Kevin Stefanski has kept Clevland competitive despite some season-ending injuries to some of his best players this season.
Ryans will make quite a statement on Saturday if he can lead the Texans to a win over the Browns.
