During his heyday, there was no player quite like Deion Sanders in the NFL as he was quite the showman and player on and off the field.
A big personality, Sanders backed up his confidence and swagger with his play on the field as a cornerback though it felt like he could play any position given his natural athletic talents.
Sanders played for a few teams during his playing career, notably with the Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys, though he had a stint with the San Francisco 49ers.
Sanders played for San Francisco in the 1994 NFL season, helping lead them to a win in Super Bowl XXIX, his first NFL championship.
After winning a title, Sanders’ popularity was at an all-time high and he capitalized on it by launching a signature shoe.
Two decades later, Nike will be re-releasing Sanders’ signature shoe via NBC Sports and Nice Kicks.
“The iconic Deion Sanders “49ers” Nike Air Diamond Turf shoe is set to be re-released next spring,” NBC Sports tweeted.
“Deion Sanders’ “49ers” Nike Air Diamond Turf is set to return Spring 2025,” Nice Kicks tweeted.
The colorway is an homage to his time with the 49ers and was originally designed to be used as a football and baseball shoe as Sanders famously played both sports.
Sanders has since transitioned naturally to being a head coach for Colorado, though fans will always remember him as a player first.
The re-release of his signature shoes must be an exciting development for collectors who may not have been around to get a pair when they originally came out.
