The Green Bay Packers are in a win-and-in Week 18 match against the Chicago Bears.
A loss for the Packers wouldn’t necessarily mean they were out of the postseason, though, they would need help from other teams.
Fortunately, they’ll get back a couple of their previously injured players for the pivotal game this weekend after the team activated rookie tight end Luke Musgrave and running back Emanuel Wilson off injured reserve.
Both have been out since they sustained injuries in Week 11: Musgrave suffered a lacerated kidney while Wilson hurt his shoulder.
Now, neither are locks to play this weekend, but the activation means the Packers can play them for Week 18 if they deem them healthy enough.
Musgrave is the biggest development considering the severity of his injury and how he was utilized in the offense.
Before he got hurt, Musgrave caught 33 passes for 341 yards with a touchdown in the youthful Packers offense.
He is one of four rookie pass-catchers alongside fellow tight end Tucker Kraft and wide receivers Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks.
Quarterback Jordan Love would surely like his young tight end back as well in the team’s crucial game against an NFC North rival.
If Love leads Green Bay to the postseason, it’ll be the first time a quarterback not named Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre led the Packers to the postseason since 1982.
The Bears, though, have been a formidable defense in the second half of the season.
Musgrave’s return wouldn’t necessarily change everything for the Packers, but his presence will surely help their postseason push.
