Heading into Wild Card Weekend, one player who had immense pressure on him to lead his team to victory was veteran quarterback Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions.

After an impressive performance in the regular season to win the NFC North division title, Goff helped the Lions punch their ticket to the NFL playoffs, with the instant reward being to play against his former team in the first round of the postseason.

Although the Lions were the favorite against the Los Angeles Rams in the first round, Goff had to deal with facing the head coach who gave up on him in Sean McVay and the quarterback that he was traded for in Matthew Stafford, who is a legend in Detroit.

Needless to say, the pressure was on for Goff to get the playoff win against his former team and give the Lions some hope for a deep run in the postseason.

Fortunately, the former No. 1 overall pick was able to do just that, as he did enough to give Detroit the win, which is the biggest highlight of his career, according to former NFL quarterback turned analyst Phil Simms, via NFL on CBS.

In the win over the Rams, Goff threw for 277 yards and a touchdown while completing 22 of the 27 passes thrown without an interception.

Although these aren’t crazy numbers from the veteran quarterback, he was able to make an impact while leading his team to victory.

With the win against Los Angeles, the Lions will wait to see the outcome of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers playing host to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night.

Detroit will host either the Eagles or the Buccaneers in the Divisional round and will likely be the favorite.
