The Baltimore Ravens’ quest for their third Super Bowl championship will begin with them hosting a Divisional round playoff game next weekend.
They will be watching the Wild Card round on television this weekend while also practicing, watching film, and otherwise getting ready.
A big reason Baltimore went 13-4 in the regular season was their defense, which finished first in points allowed, and cornerback Marlon Humphrey played a key role.
However, on Thursday, he missed his fifth straight practice, per Jonas Shaffer.
Having a bye into the Divisional round is a big benefit for a team like the Ravens that also had wide receiver Zay Flowers sit out of practice on Thursday because of a calf injury.
In addition, star tight end Mark Andrews has been out since November with an ankle injury, and he could possibly return at some point in the playoffs.
Baltimore’s stock has been rising — not many picked them to reach the Super Bowl when the season started, but now they’re the favorites to do exactly that.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson, who was embroiled in a contract dispute that had him on the verge of leaving during the offseason, will likely win his second regular-season MVP, while Flowers and Odell Beckham Jr. have given him the type of weapons he hasn’t had in a while.
With the defending world champion Kansas City Chiefs looking vulnerable and a wide-open field in the AFC overall, there may be a clear path to the Las Vegas area in February, where this year’s Super Bowl will take place, for Jackson and crew.
