After the San Francisco 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl back in February, the team was thought to potentially retool the receiving corps, which was considered one of the best in the NFL, led by versatile star wide receiver Deebo Samuel.

One player who was thought to be on the move during the NFL offseason, and still might be, is wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, who is currently looking for a lucrative long-term contract extension with the team.

Although the 49ers brass has maintained its desire to sign Aiyuk to a new deal before next season, there’s been no movement on a contract extension, which became even more telling when the team selected wide receiver Ricky Pearsall out of the University of Florida in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Pearsall is considered one of the most talented wideouts in this year’s draft class and recently reflected on his famous catch as a Gator and how it was special to his usually stoic father celebrating in the stands via the NFL’s Twitter account.

“Obviously I got up and you can see me staring in the video and people were like oh he’s staring there trying to act all hyped up. But really I was staring at my dad,” Pearsall said.

The one-handed grab by Pearsall was incredible, to say the least, and likely one of the highlights of his college career in Florida that got the attention of the 49ers brass in San Francisco.

With Pearsall clearly talented and potentially ready to make an impact right away in San Francisco, it’ll be interesting to see what happens with Aiyuk moving forward, as there’s still been no update regarding when he might get the contract extension he desires.
