Rome Odunze Doesn’t Hold Back His Thoughts About His Ability

Next week, the NFL Draft will take place, and it promises to yield one of the best rookie classes in decades.

People are talking about the four top quarterback prospects, Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and J.J. McCarthy, but there are great prospects at other positions, especially wide receiver.

Rome Odunze from the University of Washington is considered one of the top WR prospects this year, and per Adam Schefter, he says he thinks he’s the best WR this year because of his mindset and versatility.

In 2023, Odunze caught 81 passes for 1,428 yards and 13 touchdowns while helping Washington reach the College Football Playoff National Championship Game, where it lost to McCarthy and the University of Michigan.

He has decent size at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, and while he isn’t extremely explosive, he’s considered an adept route-runner who can make contested catches and add yards after the catch.

While most don’t consider Odunze the best WR in this year’s class, there are some who feel he could end up as the best when it’s all said and done.

There are a number of teams that could end up with him, and one has to wonder if the Chicago Bears could take him at No. 9 after taking a quarterback, presumably Williams, at No. 1.

The New York Giants, who are at No. 6, badly need a wide receiver like him, as do the Arizona Cardinals, who are at No. 4.

But a few teams, including the Cardinals, could trade down, which could add some intrigue to the draft, not to mention the direction Odunze’s career will head in.
